A-Z Meme

No, I am not dead. I am still in the world of the living and the reading... I've just had a very hectic week. My apologies to my readers for the silence.

I found this Meme on Bluestocking Society's blog and thought it looked like fun.

The Meme asked for a list of favorite books from "A to Z", but I am changing it and listing "books that I have read from A to Z." And whenever possible I am linking the title of a book to the review posted on my blog. It was hard to list just one book per letter, so in the end I went with whatever book first came to mind when I saw the letter. There are many many more books I wanted to, but couldn't list. Here we go:

A - Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery
B - Bleak House by Charles Dickens
C - (All) Creatures Great And Small by James Herriot (is this cheating?)
D - Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster
E - Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
F - Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
G - Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
H - The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorn
I - Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
J - Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte
K - King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard
L - Lady Audley's Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon
M -The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie
N - North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell
O - The Olive Farm by Carol Drinkwater
P - Pride & Prejudice, by Jane Austen
Q - Queen Victoria by Noel Streatfeild
R - Ruth by Elizabeth Gaskell
S - The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
T - To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
U - Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington
V -
W - The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
X -
Y -
Z -

As I said before, this was a tough list. I realized as I thought through my reads that I have a LOT of books I enjoyed that start with the same letter, particularly "M" and "S". I couldn't think of books I had read with titles starting with the letters V, X, Y, and Z. So if you have a favorite starting with these, please leave a comment and tell me about the book. Or if you have your own list, please feel free to leave a link to your own meme.

I thought of a "V" book title I do want to read, but haven't yet -- "Vanity Fair" by William Makepeace Thackeray.
