The month of October may be quickly coming to an end and with it the 3rd annual Maud Hart Lovelace Reading Challenge, but there is some good news for those readers who just can't get enough of "all things Betsy-Tacy."
For newcomers to the Betsy-Tacy world you might be asking why Mankato, MN? The answer: for no other reason than the fact it is the perfect setting. Manktao, MN is the childhood home of Maud Hart Lovelace and the setting of Deep Valley within the Betsy-Tacy and Deep Valley books. It is where visitors can actually walk through the real homes of Maud (Betsy) and Bick (Tacy), pass by Carney's sleeping porch, and even sit on a little bench at the top of the Big Hill. Of course there are other benefits to visiting Mankato during the convention -- like making friends with fellow fans, learning more about the author of these delightful books, and just having a fantastic-fun-filled week.
