Autumn 2008 Library Hospital/Reading To Know Book Swap

Book Swap

Autumn 2008 Book Swap Theme: Your All-Time Favorite Book

The rules:
1. You only sign up to participate if you are actually willing to follow the rules.
2. Once you sign up you will be matched with another participant. You will take your favorite book of choice (based on the theme for the swap) and mail it to your match and they will do likewise. (For the Fall 2008 Book Swap the theme is: your all-time favorite book. Thus you would pick your all-time favorite book and send a copy to your match.)
3. Books should be in Excellent, Like New, or New condition unless you and your match agree to another condition. Please note: We are not expecting you to give away your only copy, but to pick your book to swap and then go get a new copy (or if out of print, a copy in good or like new condition) and send that to your match.
4. Book swaps are permanent unless you and your match agree to another arrangement.
5. You must have your book shipped to your match before the end of September.
6. Only the first 50 participants will be included in the swap. If this swap is successful we may increase the number for future swaps. Sign up will will remain open for 1 week or until the first 50 participants are signed up -- whichever comes first.

This sounds like a lot of fun! I can't wait to see what someone else's favorite book is. As for me, I will have a very hard time deciding!

Sarah, thanks for joining the Lit Flicks Challenge. I can't wait to see what books/movies you choose. Remember to check back sometime today (and at the beginning of every month) to get in on activities and giveaways!

As I said, this sounds like fun. I'm thinking about which book I'll send. Unfortunately, my very favorite book is also very long, so I'm weighing that into the decision.

This is a fabulous idea for a swap. I look forward to seeing what another's favorite book is. For me, I am going to have a hard time choosing the book I would consider my favorite.

I was considering participating - but could we just swap titles and then go get the books at the library? I'm not looking to build a collection and don't own many to mail out. But I think the idea of a Title Swap partner would be fun.

Molly,

The goal of the book swap is to expand participants realm of reading as well as their library.

What might work for you is this: once we match all our participants and they let us know what books they will be trading we will list all the titles of books and you can pick from the list which you would like to read. Then you can leave a comment with what is your favorite book and participants can borrow it from the library if interested. How does that sound?

Thank you Sarah for trying to accomodate me but since I would not be participating in the full spirit/goal of the swap I think it is best that I sit this one out. What I liked most was the reading partner aspect. However, I'm trying to reduce my collection and expenses - while still expanding my titles read :0)

How fun! I am glad I found your blog before the deadline for this. I am really excited and now just have to decide what book to send.

It sounds great. I have many favorites so it will be hard to pick just one. :)

I just signed up, but I have a question...what if they already have my favorite book? It's kind of a classic. ;)

What happens if your match already has your favorite book? Then pick your second favorite or third favorite. :) Hopefully this won't happen too much.
